What You Get for $80

The price is the same whether you come to Dodge Center or train online.

  • $80, range fees included. Same price in person or online. No hidden fees.
  • Free gear if you need it. If you do not have a firearm, eye or ear protection, we can provide some free of charge. If you use one of our handguns, ammo is provided. If you bring your own handgun, please bring 10 rounds of your own ammo.
  • No experience needed. The shooting part is not a marksmanship test. It shows you can run a handgun safely and hit the target.
  • Military and first responder discounts available.
  • Satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't happy, you owe nothing, or I refund you in full if you pre-paid.
  • Cancel any time. 24 hours' notice is appreciated so I can offer the seat to someone else.

Every student also gets lifetime support. If a question comes up after class, I'm a text or email away.

What the Class Covers

Minnesota law says the training has to cover pistol fundamentals, a live-fire qualification and the legal side of carry and self-defense. The class covers these topics.

  • Personal Protection Plans
  • Handgun Basics and Selection
  • Handgun Fundamentals
  • Self-Defense Laws, including the Use of Lethal Force
  • The Aftermath
  • Minnesota Carry Laws
  • Gear Selection
  • Range Qualification

After Class: Applying in Waseca County

New Richland is in Waseca County, so you apply with the Waseca County Sheriff's Office. Here's what the county's pages say today:

  • Drop it off in person. Fill out the permit to carry application (PDF) and bring it to the Administrative Office of the Waseca County Sheriff with the fee.
  • Cash, check or money order only. The county says it does not take debit or credit cards for permit to carry applications.
  • Fees. $100 for a new permit and $75 for a renewal. Law enforcement, retired law enforcement and veterans pay $25.

Bring a copy of your training certificate and a copy of your photo ID too. Your certificate needs to be dated within one year of your application, and the sheriff has 30 days to issue or deny the permit.

A Note From a New Richland Student

"Completed my class in New Richland today. I can’t say enough about how professional and how thorough Chris was. I would recommend anyone in the state of Minnesota to make the drive to experience the fine gun/law education they have to offer."
