After Class: Applying in Olmsted County
If you live in Rochester or anywhere else in Olmsted County, you apply with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. Here's what their page says today:
- By appointment only. You book your time online from the county page.
- Have your application ready. Bring the completed BCA application (PDF), or the county will ask you to reschedule.
- Fees. $100 for a new permit and $75 for a renewal. Cash or check only.
Your training certificate needs to be dated within one year of your application. The sheriff then has 30 days to issue or deny the permit. My step-by-step permit guide covers the full list of what to bring.
Sources: Minn. Stat. 624.714, subd. 2a and 6, and the Olmsted County firearm permits page. Fees and steps can change, so check the county page before you go.
