Applying in Dodge County
After class, Dodge County residents apply in person with the Dodge County Sheriff's Office Records Department. Their page lists public hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. They sometimes close from noon to 1 pm, so check with them before you head over.
Bring the BCA application (PDF), a copy of your training certificate and a copy of your photo ID. Your certificate must be dated within one year of your application, and the fee can't be more than $100 for a new permit (Minn. Stat. 624.714). If you live in another county, apply with your own county's sheriff. My permit guide lists sheriff offices across southern Minnesota.
